What is Hypnotherapy?

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is recognized by the AMA (American Medical Association) and reaches back as far as ancient TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). The mind is an amazing tool and we all have the power to change our lives and increase our wellbeing. Hypnotherapy is a natural, yet altered state of consciousness in which selective thinking is established. Selective thinking is an increased mental involvement with ideas being presented by your Hypnotherapist. Selective thinking is different from concentration. Concentration is a more strenuous focus upon an idea. Paradoxically, selective thinking is both a way into, and an effect of, being in hypnosis. You are in control throughout the entire process and will be amazed by the results.

What is Hypnosis?

Everyone enters altered states naturally. For example, when you are daydreaming or intensely focused on a project or a TV show and noises, such as a telephone ringing or human voices do not distract you. This is similar to a hypnotic trance. Or when in deep thought about your day’s activities, you drive on auto pilot and don’t recall passing locations or your drive seems extremely short. Basically, selective thinking is an example of an increased state of mental involvement. A Hypnotherapist can show you how to use this power to your advantage. You will experience immediate results. Change your life today and call for a free initial consultation.

You are Always in Control!

It is a myth that someone is making you do something. Actually, your therapist is putting you in control. Hypnotherapy is safe. There has never been a documented case of anyone being harmed as a result of hypnosis, nor are there any negative side-effects.

Hypnotherapy can work as a stand-alone therapy or as a complement to other traditional treatments and therapies and has been recognized by the American Medical Association since 1958!

Hypnosis and Weight Loss:

Vanderbuilt University Psychology Department
Reports:

”Hypnosis operates mainly as a way to increase participants' attention to suggestions of behavioral programs as well as to reinforce their weight loss.”

Studies using behavioral treatments successfully
"typically have developed incentive systems to bridge the gap between the short-term -reinforcers provided during treatment and long-term goal of weight reduction" (Bolocofsky et al., 1985).

Hypnosis can fulfill this role by stepping in as a psychological reinforcer.

Hypnosis may assist subjects in learning positive eating behaviors and creating healthy long-term patterns of food intake.

Subjects are then more likely to incorporate the rules of a particular program into their behavioral regimes (Bolocofsky, 1985).

Kroger (1970) points out the similarities between hypnosis and behavioral treatments which share an emphasis on visualization and imagination.

The literature suggests that
hypnosis is an ideal addition to behavioral weight management programs which tend to need supplementation to achieve long-term results.

Hypnotherapy Helps the Stars Stop Smoking!

Ben Affleck appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show to talk about why he decided to quit smoking a pack of cigarettes a day, after 20 years of addiction. The movie star appeared on Oprah on the 22nd of January 2008, on a show about the battle of nicotine addiction. Affleck said, “I finally decided to quit smoking when I was going to have a child. That was the thing that sort of put it over the top for me.”

Ben is not the only Hollywood Star to utilize hypnosis to quit smoking. He got the idea from his life-long friend, Matt Damon, who has also successfully quit smoking using hypnotherapy!

When describing the experience, Affleck said, “You sit in, like, a Barker lounger (recliner) and he sips water and just talks to you for an hour, and explains how nicotine is poison. All of a sudden, you thought, ‘This is asinine that I’ve been doing this to myself for all these years.’ My last cigarette was on November 10th, 2005… I feel a huge difference in my health now that I don’t smoke. I feel like I’m in better shape than I was five years ago!”

Hypnosis is the missing link! It works!
